Stencil Stamping Technique

Happy Saturday!!

A nice, relaxing day around here today.  Girls are playing, Craig is putzing and I am crafting ... AND it's raining to boot!  My kind of day!  No where to be and nothing pressing on the calendar.  Well ... ok, I DO have 3 classes and a Stamp-a-stack in the next 7 days that I haven't prepared for yet but - *meh* - it'll happen (not enough stress yet *lol*).

Last night instead of working on projects that needed to get done I decided to *play* and do something I've been planning to do since LAST Halloween!  It was AWESOME!!!  I'm currently working on a picture tutorial and class/kit so you're gunna have to wait a little longer for that ... but I'll give you a little teaser until then ...
Oh ya ... it's awesome ... I've seen them around before but never made one myself ... until now ... and now I have 28 of them in progress.  Yep - that's me ... if 1 is good, 28 is better *lol*

In the meantime I'll share with you the Technique I decided on for my classes this week.  I call it "Stencil Stamping".  Here are the two cards I made using this technique:

Fun!  ... a little messy, but FUN!

I used the stencil from my new Build a Banner Kit.  I'm not a banner-kind-of-girl but I wanted to get the kit just for the stencils!  Check out page 31 of the Holiday Catalogue to see everything you get in the kit (click on the Holiday Catalogue picture on the right).  For the top card I used Melon Mambo, Daffodial Delight and Tempting Turqoise with my finger daubers to make the chevron background.  I used the "Thank You" from the new "Another Thank You" Photopolymer set with black Staz-on, matted it with Daffodil Delight and added one of the cute little paperclips from the Hung Up Cute Clips on page 170 of the main catty (yes ... HAD them for ages but haven't ever USED one!! *lol*)

For the second card I used Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Pacific Point inks.  The sentiment is also from the "Another Thank You" set but this time I used Versamark and black embossing powder.

For this technique you simply lay the stencil on top of your card stock, ink up your finger dauber and daub away!!  I highly suggest that once you have completed one color you remove the stencil and wipe it off with a baby wipe.  You can see from my top card that I didn't do that and I ended up with some pink mixed in with the yellow.  Not a big deal but if you want clean, crisp patterns I would recommend it.  It's easy enough to line your stencil up again once it is clean.
In the Build a Banner Kit you get a chevron stencil, a stripes stencil and a dot stencil as well as lower case alphabet stencils.  They would be AWESOME for a personalized birthday card for someone ... just make a background and stencil their initial on top.  Fun!
